Jaime Eller - fiddle

Jaime Eller has played the violin for nearly twenty years. Initially classically trained she played in orchestras all through high school and college, as well as achieving various honors during competitions. She was introduced to Irish music a few years back by a college professor and has been fiddling religiously in Portland for the last year. She is a regular at the Sunday session and has been to known to sit in with Boghat from time to time. She is definitely not a Quaker.

 

Norm Varney - bodhran

What do you call a groupie who hangs around a session annoying the musicians? A bodhrán player. Norm Varney first entered the Celtic music scene playing the bodhrán with the band Tin Ceiling and has been annoying session musicians in Maine and New Hampshire for many years since. Despite numerous bodhran jokes, Norm is frequently found providing a healthy heartbeat at the Sunday afternoon sessions in Portland and on a few occasions has joined Boghat to round out the rhythm section.

 

 

Sean Sutherland - tenor banjo & guitar

Sean was born in raised in Woburn, Massachusetts. He began playing guitar at age fifteen, and has since taught himself to play the bouzouki, mandolin, and tenor banjo. Sean lived in Boulder, Colorado, where he was an integral part of the Irish and old time music scenes, before moving to Maine in the fall of 2004. He is a regular at the Brian Boru session and also plays regularly with the traditional music group An Grian.
